What does it take
We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate in civil engineering who is eager to learn and grow within the construction industry. The Junior Estimator will assist senior estimators in accurately assessing project costs, preparing bids, and analyzing construction plans. Training will be provided in the use of industry-standard software such as PlanSwift and Bluebeam.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with senior estimator to measure project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents accurately to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
- Utilizes industry-standard tools and software, including PlanSwift and Bluebeam, to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and assessments.
- Ensures that all measurements and calculations are conducted meticulously, adhering to established standards and procedures.
- Works closely with senior estimator to clarify any ambiguities or discrepancies in project documentation that may impact cost estimates.
- Maintains organized records of measurement data and documentation, facilitating easy reference and retrieval for future use.
- Assists in identifying potential value engineering opportunities or cost-saving measures during the estimating process.
- Contributes to the preparation of bid proposals by providing accurate and timely estimates that reflect the scope and requirements of each project.
- Stays updated on industry trends, construction methodologies, and material costs to enhance the accuracy and relevance of cost estimates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software applications such as PlanSwift and Bluebeam.
- Prior internship or coursework related to construction estimating is a plus.
